Jean Martel is a senior attorney with Séguin Racine. He is the head of the employment and labour law sector. His practice has enabled him to acquire extensive experience in representing the interests of employers and business leaders, both in the context of individual employment relationships in a unionized context whether at the provincial level or at the federal level. His practice includes counsel (legal opinions on the various legal aspects arising out of labour and employment relations), representation before the civil and administrative courts (argument before judges, commissioners and arbitrators), negotiation of collective bargaining agreements and of out-of-court settlements, as well as drafting employment contracts, consulting contracts, non-competition and non-solicitation clauses and various policies and procedures with regards to labour and employment law (policies against harassment and discrimination, protection of personal information policies, policies on the use of IT tools, etc.). Mr. Martel is also involved in the management and strategic planning of human resources. He has also gained a solid experience in coordinating all aspects related to employees in connection with transactions such as acquisitions of assets, sub-contracts and business reorganisations.
Mr. Martel is the author of publications and guides in labour and employment law. Before joining the firm, Mr. Martel practiced with prestigious companies in the banking and telecommunications sector.
